As previously announced, Gov’t Mule will ring in the New Year with 4 shows in New York City. The band will play 2 intimate acoustic shows at the Angel Orensanz Center on December 27th and 28th then move to the Hammerstein Ballroom for 2 electric shows on December 30th and 31st. Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk will open the show on the 30th and Gov’t Mule will play 3 sets on New Year’s Eve.
For the Hammerstein Ballroom shows, we’ve taken great time and consideration in coming up with seating (standing) options that will satisfy everyone’s needs. The floor section will be General Admission. The first 5 rows of the First Balcony and the entire Second Balcony will be Reserved. The remaining rows in the First Balcony will be general admission.
Because of the intimate nature and limited capacity of the Angel Orensanz Center, tickets to these shows will only be available to those who purchase Hammerstein tickets through Mule Ticketing.
For this New Year’s run, we will be offering VIP Ticketing options as well as travel packages in conjunction with Consider It Dan. For the Hammerstein shows, there will be Reserved VIP seats in the First Balcony and one of the Side Opera Boxes. There will also be a VIP section on the floor, in front of the stage, that will be Standing Room. VIP ticket holders will have a separate entrance, coat check and waitress service (waitress service not available on floor).

New Bassist Jorgen Carlsson To Debut on Fall Tour
Balancing evocative songs and expressive improvisation, Gov’t Mule is a band rooted in both the personal and musical chemistry between its members. “It’s not one of those groups that can make a change overnight,” explains founding guitarist/vocalist Warren Haynes. It is only after six months of rehearsing, jamming, and hanging out with bassist Jorgen Carlsson that he has been added to the band as their new permanent bass player, replacing Andy Hess, who joined in 2003.
When founding bassist Allen Woody passed away in 2000, Haynes explains, “We were faced with the daunting task of replacing a one-of-a-kind musician, which I'm sure was intimidating for Andy, who did a wonderful job and brought his own personality into the music. Jorgen’s style is somewhere between Woody's and Andy's. He brings some of Woody's aggressive spirit back although he is very much his own man.” Carlsson was born in Sweden and has been active as a session musician and studio owner since arriving in the US in 1991.
Founded by Haynes, Woody, and drummer Matt Abts in 1994 as a power-trio, Gov’t Mule has, over the course of eight studio albums, several more live projects, and over 1300 concert performances, built both an extensive, evolving body of work and a devoted fan base. In addition, the band has sold 1.5 million downloads on its website mule.net, sold over one million albums, and received a Grammy nomination. Keyboardist Danny Louis joined as a full-time member in 2003. With Hess leaving to pursue other opportunities, Haynes sees the addition of Jorgen as connecting the past and future of Gov’t Mule: “Having worked with Jorgen over the last several months, we are very excited to explore some new directions while at the same time going back a little closer to our roots.”
On September 16th, Gov't Mule will release the double live DVD The Tale of Two Cities, which spans the entire preceding era of the band with Andy Hess on bass. It is composed of two complete shows filmed the first date of the fall 2004 Deja Voodoo tour and the last date of the winter 2006 High and Mighty tour.
Gov't Mule’s Kinder Revolution fall tour begins on October 30 and runs through November 22nd, and includes performances on Halloween at the Orpheum Theater in Boston, two night stands at the Pantages Theater in Minneapolis and the Fillmore in San Francisco, shows at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford, CT, and more. Following the tour, Gov’t Mule will, for the seventh year in a row, celebrate the new year with a series of performances in New York City: two acoustic shows on December 27th and 28th at the Angel Orensanz Center in the Lower East Side, then two electric shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom on December 30th and 31st, with the New Years’ Eve show featuring the traditional three sets.

For the 7th consecutive year, Gov't Mule will celebrate New Year's in New York City. Due to the on-going renovations at the Beacon Theatre, the band will be relocating, and for the first ever during its New Year's Run, play 4 shows and do so in 2 different venues. On December 27th & 28th, Gov't Mule will play acoustically in the magnificent Angel Orensanz Center on The Lower East Side and then on December 30th & 31st Gov't Mule will play the historic Hammerstein Ballroom. Keeping with tradition, the band will play 3 sets on New Year's Eve.
Much consideration was taken into choosing these venues. The band has always wanted to play Angel Orensanz, a former temple which is a visually and acoustically superb room, and jumped at doing so when the opportunity presented itself. The Hammerstein Ballroom, with its extremely accessible location as well as its mixture of seated balconies (both reserved and general admission) as well as its expansive open floor, will appeal to all of our fans needs. With its location in midtown Manhattan, and its close proximity to public transportation to New Jersey, as well as the Long Island Railroad and Metro North, it is one of the more convenient venues in New York City to reach.
Finally, we will be offering several VIP and travel packages which were designed to give our fans the best experience possible. Details on these packages as well as all on-sale dates, will be announced early next week.

In other MuleTracks news...Since the inception of Mule Tracks in 2004 we have been asked more than once when we will make CD's available of these downloads. When Warren decided that the Holy Haunted House ("Houses of The Holy" from start to finish) set and the Encore from this past Halloween in Minnesota should be re-mixed, we saw a golden opportunity. It's been a little while, but today we are pleased to announce that we have made not one, but TWO Classic MuleTracks available for download. We dug deep into the vaults and pulled out two gems from the EARLY days of Gov't Mule. 12.02.94 and 06.02.95 from The Birch Hill in Old Bridge, NJ are now available via www.muletracks.com. ALLMAN BROTHERS POSTPONE BEACON; PULL OFF WANEE
The Allman Brothers have dropped off the Wanee Festival and postponed their 15 show run at The Beacon Theatre due to health issues with founding member Gregg Allman. Gregg has been receiving scheduled treatments for Hepatitis C, a virus that, with these treatments, has become curable in recent years. The treatments so far have been successful and the virus has been eradicated from his system. However, the recovery time from the side effects of the treatment are taking longer than originally projected. WARREN HAYNES AND GRACE POTTER TO HOST JAMMY AWARDS
Warren Haynes and Grace Potter will co-host the seventh Jammy Awards at New York’s Theater at Madison Square Garden on May 7. A four-time Jammy Award Winner and seven-time Grammy Nominee, Haynes has appeared at the Jammys a number of times over the years, performing with both Gov’t Mule and the Allman Brothers Band. Potter took home the New Groove Jammy in 2006 and performed with an eclectic cast that included Joe Satriani, Steve Kimock, Jane's Addiction’s Stephen Perkins, Willy Waldman and Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey bassist Reed Mathis. Haynes and Potter have performed together a handful of times recently, often collaborating on lauded classic-rock covers.

On Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd, Gov't Mule returns to New Orleans for the 10th straight year for two special shows at the Contemporary Arts Center as part of Superfly during Jazzfest 2008. New Orleans holds a place in the band's heart and has been the site of many extraordinary and historic shows, including The Deepest End. The band has a few tricks up its sleeve to celebrate the fifth anniversary of that show and its first 2 night run in town since Hurricane Katrina. Further info will be announced shortly.

In the last few years his health has failed tremendously and insurmountable medical bills have caused him to lose everything-guitars, cars, motorcycles and even his voice. He currently can only speak through a voice box but is scheduled to have surgery that will hopefully bring his voice back. The show will take place on Saturday December 29th at the Blender Theatre at the Gramercy after the Gov't Mule show at the Beacon Theatre. Doors will open at midnight Saturday (technically Sunday morning) and the show will start at 1AM. Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster this Friday at Noon.

Due to an error in manufacturing we regret to inform you that the release date for the Tail of Two Cities Double DVD will be pushed back one week from December 4th to December 11th. We apologize for any inconvenience and are quite frustrated ourselves that its going to take another week to get this product in your hands. Donny Barnes, wife of Mike Barnes, has breast cancer and has had a bi-lateral mastectomy (removal). She's undergoing chemo-therapy, and as you might guess, their bills are astronomical with very limited coverage. GUITAR AUCTION FOR CHRIS MERRELL
If you head to muleauction.net you will notice that we have just launched an auction of a signed guitar for Chris Merrell. Chris was diagnosed with prostate cancer on February 12th, 2007. He spent Valentine's Day getting a bone scan and pelvic CT scan at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
